I dunno how much this will help, but I just bought a bass that was tuned in drop C and he used a B string from a 5 string set to keep it from being too floppy.

I don't want to be too off topic because this post maybe should be in technique, but... does anyone else LIKE fret buzz? I find a certain amount of it when playing my Jazz gives a gritty, almost Precision bass sound, and with distortion and overdrive makes it sound really heavy.

I DO know what you mean, i play through a sansamp and sometimes its hard to pick out the frett buzz from the fuzz, lol
