Fretless: Flatwounds vs. Black nylon flats?

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, which one of these two kind of strings gives the closest sound to an upright?
It's for a cheap fretless, jazz bass type. between the squier jazz bass fretless and the Vintage Icon Series VJ96MRJP, wich one is the best?

LaBella 760N. They are tape wound flats. Very "woody" sounding. I personally would go with the Squier VM Fretless Jazz, but only you know what bass feels best to you.

I really liked Rotosound TruBass88's (nylon flats) on my fretted jazz because of the very acoustic tone I could get with them.

Sadly, my G string broke and I don't have a shortscale to put them on so I'm on my backups again (taperwound nickel rounds) and the world is strange once more.

I thought the 760's were tape rounds (the core is what really determines if they're flats...most tapewound strings are tape over rounds) but I guess I can learn something new every day.
