OK, there’s been a lot of chat about what strings you use on a fretless lately so lets have a definitive poll.

Flatwounds, all type including tapewounds
Halfwounds, Groungwounds or Pressure wounds
Roundwounds, steel or nickel

Right now I use Black Beauties, the set previous to that were Elixirs. Both sets are coated strings, which isn't an option in your poll.

I like La Bella tapewounds for my Yamaha bbn4f.

Right now, I'm using Fender Nickels 7150 on my de-fretted Jazz. But actually I like Nylon Tapewounds best for fretless, so I'll get me a set of GHS Nylons soon. I had these on a fretless 5-string which I sold some time ago. I love these strings - great feel, great tone.

Nylon tapewound - there's no option for it. Nor is there an option for "carrots". Devinitive indeed.

For what it's worth I like nickel roundwounds.

I prefer Pressure wound GHS on my Fretless. Nice round wound sound with out the round bite on the board or the fingers.
