Fretless Strings Question

Gday guys
i have bought a used fretless fender mim jazz bass that i am absolutely in love with.
It is a few years old but is still in perfect condition.
My question is...on the fingerboard there are some slight marks from where the strings have hit the board.
However i am 99% sure that the strings on the bass are flatwounds
Is it just inevitable that on fretless basses there is going to be some wear???

by the way the neck is rosewood

No, it's not inevitable... unless you consider very slight inconsequential wear as an issue. Even with roundwounds.
It can be as irrelevant as fretboard wear on a fretted bass.
