Personally, for slapping I prefer DR Hi-Beams .40,.60,.80,.100

They've got fairly low tension which I really like for doing pops. I think fast stuff, like double and triple pops, is a lot harder on thicker strings. As mentioned before, the sound changes quite a bit with heavier strings. Personally, I prefer the sound of the lighter ones. I always find it amazing how my thumb just seems to bounce off of DR Hi-Beams.

I suspect that none of you are mathematicians...you have your decimals in the wrong spot

Personally I use 0.045, 0.065, 0.080, 0.100 you guys that use a 0.85 string....you must have some serious bear paws!

.45-.105 for anything, slap too. Nickels or almost-dead steels. Heavier gauges are good with light popping - more punch than zing. (strange thing is - the stronger I pop the more my bass hides in the mix)

I like the bounce you get from a lighter gauge string... maybe 40-100 on a 4 banger. I personally like DR Lo-Rider SS's for this, becuase they're nice & stiff.
