Geddy Lee & strings

Sign in to disble this ad
I hope it's OK to put this in this section. I just wanted to know what kind of strings some of the Geddy Lee players use. I just got a GL yesterday and I don't know what strings came on it, I guess Fender(?). Any input is appreciated...thanks.

And for those interrested, Geddy Lee uses Rotosound swing bass gauge 30-90.

The Fender site says this:
Super 7350M, NPS, p/n 073-7350-006,
Gauges: (.045, .065, .085, .105)

I have DR LoRiders on mine, also in the Medium Lite gauge.

Man, I just can't get into those tiny strings...I have the RS Swing Bass 45 -105 and love them. My bass came with the D'Addario XL's in the same gauges.....

I was wondering what flats might sound like. I have a '92 Standard Jazz(MIM)with flats on it and I like the sound. The GL sounds pretty good with flats, eh?

Really? That seems way to small for his tone.

I've always heard that he uses the 45-105 standard set.

i wondered if he's using those superwound funkmasters now on his passive jazzes. i know he used to use them on the wal's, but being active they'd handle the thinner strings better without losing their tone.

Yup flats sound good and feel good on the GL, also ..IMO it really helps dampen the fret clack that I'm not fond of.

I put flats on my Jazz basses, rounds on the P.
