Getting free strings

I hope this is in the right area, I have been playing for about 15 yrs, NEVER complain about getting "dead" strings out of the box, I figure they were the ones made on a friday, about 3:45pm...lol. So one day I was pissed for getting 2 sets {4 & 5 string} D'adderios, I called and emailed with my frustration. The sent me 4 packs!! I thought was awsome customer service!
So here is my question, can a local cover band that is somewhat popular convince a string company for an endorsment? What would be the steps?

Well, I can actually tell you this. For our company, at least, you need to send in a press kit, and then they will contact you if they like what you do. I doubt you'll get an endorsement though, as those processes are HIGHLY selective (DR's is).

yeah I wouldn't even attempt DR, I know they are after national players. BTW just got my 1st set of HI BEAMs....I'm hooked!!
I posed another thread under band mang. about this as well, my bud who I lost contact with is playing with a 80 hair band/cover band. Doing the college circuit and got endorsed by GHS, that why I was asking....would be nice since I play aggressive and break strings alot. buying 2 sets for my 4 and 5 all the time gets my wife worked up...lol
