Cant check the package because they are sealed and I dont want to spend 40 usd (is what they cost in spain) if they have that thread.

Thank you for your help and excuse my english.

Also, if you know of 45 105 nickel roundwound softer than ernie ball?

I have the 45-65-85-105 set of GHS Boomers and they have the red silk(?), but I don't know if that color is the same for different gauged sets.

Silk or no silk, the Ernie Ball and GHS Boomers are _very_ different strings. The EB's are bright and metallic sounding (i.e. lots of top end treble). The Boomers are much mellower with muted treble in comparision.

You could try these. I don't believe they have any silk at all.

DR NICKEL LO-RIDERS
Nickel Plated Bass Strings wound on a Hex Cores
Lo-Rider nickel-plated bass strings are based upon hexagonal cores, wound with nickel-plated steel, specifically designed for a softer feel and a traditional warm nickel sound. These bass strings are even, long lasting, and loud...with a mid-range growl. An excellent string for fretless basses…”Lo-Riders Love to FUNK”

+1 on DR's.

You could try Rotosound RB (RotoBass) as well. They are unsilked and probably easier to find over there.

GHS Boomers have Red Silk by the tuning pegs. No silk by the ball ends where Rotosound have red silk at the tuning pegs and at the balls on their Stainless Steel SwingBass 66 Strings (RS66LD). Rotosound does make Nickel Plated Steel roundwounds that have turquoise silk.

Like mmbongo mentioned... RotoBass have NoSilk and are Nickel Plated Steel Round Wounds with no silk and are just like the Swing Bass 66 Nickel strings. They are lower cost too.

Also GHS Makes "BASICS" which are similar spec to Boomers with No Silk and are inexpensive as well.

Definitely softer and warmer than EB's. Sunbeams are great strings, with no silk.

Solitario, don't know if you solved your issues.

I'm from Italy and I can suggest you SchneiderMusik.de
they have a wide choice in strings (including everything about DRs), nice discounts and free shipping in Europe if you spend over 100€!

check it out!
