They are voiced to accentuate the growl in the low mids of a P bass, very cool way to cut through a mix, and probably why they sound more articulate in a mix than alone.

Great classic flats, though I don't have any basses with them on- just played some friends' basses over the years and loved the sound. They are strangely supple in spite of the tension, not sure why.

I don't believe so. They go from 34-36 scale and I think for string thru you need 38.

I just put a set on my 2012 Am. Jazz thru the body. But the set I used was "Long Scale Plus". Plenty long enough. These were Set M3050 - Medium - Long Scale Plus. 45 - 105. Probably TOO long for bridge stringing.

Edit: Here's a pic of the ones I used that I know are long enough for thru-body stringing:

Interesting. Because some long scale strings that say they'll fit 34-36 scale as these do won't work on a 34" string thru bass.

I do know that with these strings, I get the thick part of the E wrapping around the post, so much that I can barely get 2 wraps around.

Cool. I ordered the M3050. Anyone know if there is any difference between the ones packed in this packaging and the ones with the illustration on the front? Is one newer?

I can't wait to try these. I had a used set from a trade that sounded amazing.

I called GHS and asked them that a couple months ago. She said that they just changed their packaging, but the strings are the same as the old black packaging. They feel the same to me, although I do prefer the old look of the packaging better. As an old dinosaur, I can be rather resistant to change...

For the record, they string through the body just fine.

I use the medium scale GHS flats on my Guild Starfire, and I can't imagine that bass with any other string.

Using custom 35-55-75-95 on my P-bass special. Even tone, flexibility, and light tension throughout. Fantastic for flats!

Well I had a set of GHS Precision flats on my Squier Standard Precision V, but took them off shortly after installing them in lieu of som D'Addario Tapes. Thinking I might try the GHS again; still have my old set. Had an experience in rehearsal where I just did not love the tone anymore.

We shall see..

IF anyone is curious about trying these on the cheap, I have a barely used set in the classifieds. $15 + shipping:

Lightly used string liquidation (Flats and Tapes)

Love the GHS strings. I use the Precision Flats on my Auderie powered Jazz (love the feel and tone) and Progressives on most of my fretted basses. They are good w/customer service also. I had a problem getting a long enough E string to fit my string-thru (pretty sure they were long scale plus), called them up and they sent 2 E strings (free). Customer service means a lot to me, especially in an age of automated everything and "sorry, you must be mistaken sir" dis-ing. If I were famous , I'd endorse them!

Are you using a custom gauge set, cuz that .125 B is super floppy for a 34" scale. :S

Has anyone tried the .128 for a B?

Famous or not you just did by posting about your experience with them. Around here I think the guys most listened to are everyday players just like ourselves.

Yep, I made a custom set. 40-55-75-100-128. The B is still a little floppy on my 34" 5er, but I remember that it had some serious authority when played through a large PA. I've still got the Tapes on, because I love them too much.. Having two sets of strings for one bass is dangerous stuff!

I just put a set GHS p flats 45-105 today on my p bass and WOOOOOOW! instant love.
Right amount of tension(maybe equal to chromes of same gauge) and very flexible, to me they feel amazing! silky enough, and the tone is instant thumpy tone, just incredible.

Besides GHS I've tried chromes and rotos 77's but I didn't like chromes on my p bass, just for my jazz bass and I love rotos brightness at first but they soon loose the tone for me, GHS's are my new favorite

Are you saying that this strings are going to get better within weeks!!? I can't imagine that
