Ive used GHS P flats for years with my through-body basses without any problems. I use them when I need a more traditional sound than the TI Jazz Flats, which I use as well. The light gauge set,.40-.95, are my favorite stringset of any kind.

Great thanks.

How do they compare with flats such as Rotosound Jazz 77s

I use GHS Flatwounds exclusively on all my basses. Love the sound and feel.

I've never used the Rotos, Deaky, so I cannot say. Anyone?

Much love for GHS flats here, but they are unfortunately overshadowed by TI & La Bella flats. My personal favorite is the "Regular" gauge set (.055-.105); deep thump with low-mid focus. Most experiences will tell you (including my own) that "D" & "G" strings are brighter than their "E" & "A." After a month playing them without ever wiping them down and finally breaking in every string, I think it's fundamental to its sound. With such thumpy "E" & "A" strings, the brighter "D" & "G" keeps my Fender Precision cut through the mix. On the regular set, the .070 "D" mellows out with the "E" & "A" once it has been broken in, the .055 "G" retains a bit of brightness, but it did mellow out. I think I'm the only one hoping they come out with a .055-.075-.095.-.110 set - I would love to see GHS make a thicker set.
