GHS Precision Flats on Jazz Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys I just want to know what you think of GHS Precision flat mediums on the Jazz bass and what you guys think in terms of tension, sound, and well are they safe on standard tuning?

I'm stuck with 2 options either getting a set of D'Addario Chromes 45-100 or GHS Precision flats mediums 45-105

The GHS precision flats are great strings, my fav when it comes to flats personally. They sound really warm, thumpy and defined on a jazz bass with decent sustain and less tension than you would have w/ fender or labella flats but more than your standard roundwound or thomastiks. I've never had any problems w/ them in any tunings, I would HIGHLY recommend the GHS flats.

"Safe" on standard tuning?

GHS makes great strings, and any properly set up Jazz should be "safe" for any strings you want to put on it.

nice... GHS flats are my first choice and for rounds I'd go with Boomers as well

GHS Precison Flats are also my favorite flats. The set on my P bass is at least ten year old. They'd been off and on the P several times over the first five years, and have been on that bass continiously for five years. And flats on a Jazz bass are a great sound. It's the sound of Joe Osborn (btw, the Lakland Joe Osborn flats ARE GHS Precision Flats), and Joe's sound has always been great.

I've always wanted to put on GHS medium flats on the bass.. but after trying a set of 7250ML, I didn't like it.. I'm afraid I might damage the neck or what.. but anyways I dont care how stiff the bass is.. what I'm concerned of is the neck..
