Just ordered my first set of flats. Roto 77s. Gonna string up one of my Ps with them and leave the 66s on my Jazz special.

Nice, I just put a set of flats on my P and I'm loving the results so far. Got a great deal on some TI's from BassStringsOnline.com, (shameless plug for a fellow TB'er.)
I tried flats back in the 80's. I can't remember the brand, but my experience was negative at the time. The strings were like cables and sliding my hand created friction burn. The TI's...well, I can't remember the last time a set of strings made my day. Hope you enjoy the Roto's.

I just put some GHS .045-.095 Flats on my P. I have to say they are the most MUSICAL sounding strings I have ever heard.

Don't forget you might have to work with your EQing a bit to dial in w/flats. From chromes to TI's flats it take a bit more EQing to get them to work right in the mix but the time is well worth it.

with the round wounds I tend to roll my tone knob down to take some of the edge off in a band situation. Im thinking with the flats I can just leave it up.

Strung my P bass up with the flats. I havent had a lot time to play with them but I love the feel of them and so far they sound pretty good. They seem to just take some of the edge off of my tone.

I found Thomastik's a bit too floppy, so went with D'Addario Chromes, and love those strings, especially after a break-in period. Took some getting used to the tension tho. But, great tone for a P bass IMO.

I just took a set of LaBella flats off my Precision for a set of Roto 77s and dare I say it I think they sound better IMHO.

I also have Roto PSD 99 on another Precision and they are fantastic strings too.

Well the Rotos are off and the LaBellas are back on.

The LaBellas are just in a league of their own.
