Hey all, I did a search on tapes and saw all the different brands and opinions, and wanted to get recommendations based upon some specifics.
I'm looking for tapes with the most mileage and a similar warm flatwound type tone. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Daddarios and Fenders are surprisingly bright.
As for mileage, tapes are like flats, they don't die, ever. Not in my experience anyway.

Rotos being gold,
LaBellas purple,
GHS red,
Daddarios blue,
Fenders black.

| | | What kind of tone and feel do the silks have Dark? Looking for a warm tone and smooth string to eliminate string noise on the mellow praise songs we do.

I hit them hard and can get an 'organic' wooden strungbass-suggesting tone easily depending on where I hit them (close to the fretboard or bridge)
They have a roundwound core, and they have a bit of sustain and tiny amount of "zing" (though by no means adding up to a roundwound tone)
However, I do miss a tiny bit of 'deepness' or bottom so to speak, that the all metal GHS flats had. |

Jack | They're all very smooth, the Rotos the smoothest, IIRC(all are very smooth though, so at this level it doesn't matter much).
EXCEPT, the Fenders, they have a kind of winding feel, almost like rounds.

That said, GHS, or Rotos do it very well too, IMO. I've had a few sets of Rotos with bum G strings, something to consider.
