gold colored strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
Do any gold/bronze/brass (whatever) colored strings exist for an electric bass? I know that brass strings are readily available for acoustic basses but I have been looking for something similar for an electric bass...Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Check into Dean Markley Alchemy strings. They aren't cheap though...

There are the Optima/Maxima gold-plated strings for e-bass:

JustStrings has them too but their price is way too expensive.
However, these strings are great in every aspect,I use them extensively....just do a search in this forum's section and you'll find more references about it.
Regards,

I've also thought that gold hardware/strings looked really tacky.

Give me plain ol' silver anyday.

Can't you get DR coated strings in gold? Those sound good and are fairly cheap.

i think it would depend on the bass. im picturing an all white jazz (body, neck, fretboard, headstock) with gold hardware, frets, tuners, and strings. sweet.

Years ago, Daddario made a set of strings that I used alot.
They were great. They were the XLReds.
Don't know if you can find them anylonger.

You mean like these sexy strings?

I hated 'em. Here's the link to the thread I posted about my experiences... Took a risk with some new strings- my impressions...

Horses for courses - I got two basses with the gold hardware and gold string mix and think they look fantastic!

Pretty good I reckon - although, it would look better if it had gold tuners as well...IMHO!!
