| | | | Good flatwounds for a fretless? I recently bought a fretless with regular roundwound strings and I've found that they scratch at my neck considerably (I'm sure this is common, but regardless) and I've never really played a bass with flatwounds. So which flatwounds could get me a real smooth, sort of upright sound? I play jazz and fusion on a BassMods K44V fretless.
Thanks

Plenty of choices. It all depends on your tonal requirements.

GHS Precision Flats (.040 - .095) for lower-tension feel, thuddy sound.
Fender 9050 Flatwounds (.050-.100) medium-tension, more treble than the GHS Flats.
Two very different string sets. Experiment, if you can afford the time and $$.

But i recently got some Fender 9050s And i like them more. They are slightly less tension than the chromes and seem to growl a little more.. Great strings and real low price too...
