Good strings for a Fender Standard Fretless J Bass

Does anyone have some recommendations for good strings for a fretless Fender Standard J-Bass? I want a kinda Jaco-ish sound but also be able to do Marcus Miller-like slap when needed. Also, I want the harmonics to really come out.

Boy, there are just any number of makes/models that would fit that description. Prefer nickels or steels?

Offhand, D'Addario XLs, Ernie Ball Slinkies, or DR Nickel Lo-Riders if you want nickel; DR steel Hi-Beams or Fat Beams if you want steel. And there are lots and lots of others...

Really, you should just pick one or two sets to begin, then start experimenting on your own. Ultimately your sound is going to be influenced more by your technique and style than you may realize - regardless of which strings you choose...

I use DR sunbeams on my MIM fretless, and love the way they feel and sound. Very rich harmonics also. The Marcus slap tone ain't gonna happen - but it won't with any other strings, either.
