DR Nickel Lowriders 45-105... I am about to have a re-fret on my jazz bass and I don't want to break some new frets with steel strings!
If I wanted the round core I would get some Sunbeams anyday.
I have played both Highbeams and Fatbeams, they are get sounding and playing strings but from my own tests with them... they are super bright at first then they mellow out and then last a good while and start to lose tone.
The Nickel Lowriders seem to not be as harsh when they are first put on, they don't seem to have a break in period either which is good for me... even if they don't last as long as the steels.
