Green cloth on end of strings on Blem Squier VM J bass????

Can you help me identify these strings:

Someone bought this bass new..took the PG plastic off...changed the strings....sent it back to MF!

I got it from MF as a blem -- just trying to figure out what strings he sent this VM back to MF with?... They are coated so I figure they could be Elixir and b/c the box for their strings are green. But who would send a bass back with $40 strings on it? (unless he threw away the stock--- i sorta liked the stock ones too). No colored ends at the bridge.
