Guild bass strings

During the early 80's I use to use Guild Stainless Steel Bass strings I'd order from Sam Ass in NYC. At some point I switched to Rotosound and have stuck with that since. Out of curiousity I tried to find Guild Stainless strings online. I found a source for nickle but it looks like the company may be owned be Fender now. Is this correct?

Fender bought Guild in the late 90s but the old Guild bass strings were discontinued before that, since Guild had discontinued all their basses a few years earlier. And those strings were made for Guild by someone else, I don't know who.

Fender reintroduced Guild basses and made nickel rounds with the Guild name, but there's no connection to the old strings. Besides, they discontinued the basses and strings again, AFAIK any Guild bass strings you can get online are closeout stock.

I used Guild nickel wounds in the late 70'S, on all of my Fenders...Great strings! (they were cheaper than Ernie Balls too!) The strings that come the closest (IMO) are the Trace Elliot nickels.

Vinci used to make the bass strings for Guild. They were also the company who made the bullets strings for Fender.
