half nylon half roundwond string?

So I was at the local music store and played an anverage bass, but ut had these half roundwound half nylon strings on them and no one knew anything else about them. Anybody heard of anything like this?

yup!

here in toronto, there are some Rob Allen basses at the bass store on Ossington strung up with LaBella roundwound/nylon strings...

to tell you the truth, i dont like the feel at all...they're really gritty and sticky, and not very smooth (especially since they were strung on a fretless bass)

but I guess its a pretty unique type of string overall.
