I have a dean razorback bass guitar and the skull strings i have just purchased hit the first fret so i cannot play.
I think it is were the strings are thin at the top and so they are not held up high enough away from the frets as a result

That includes adjustments of the truss rod, bridge saddles, and pickup height. It's not that there's anything wrong with the strings, it's just a normal part of putting on a different kind of strings than were on there before. |

| | | | I have raised the action to the highest possible and the problem persists. like i say it is to do with the head, as the string comes out onto the neck it thickens and so touches the fret its because the string is thin going onto the head but thickens midway down the first fret so it is not held high enough away from the fret |

Sounds like you have a string made for a short scale bass or something.... |

Check what scale your strings are and make sure they match your bass's scale. The strings should be full size (no taper) where they pass through the nut. |
