Who plays heavys? Specifically on a 5 string? Curious to see what gauges you use.

I use 80-110-140-170-200. I tune to standard tuning with a high C.

Sorry, just having fun! Truth is I use wuss strings. 40-95 + 120 on my 5. But I definitely see the appeal of heavy strings. I just don't want to use them.

I'm using gauges 45-65-85-105-130, tuned down one step. I'm used to this gauge. (Elites strings).

I'll probably order singles in future (Rotosounds) 50-65-85-110-130 for a better balance.

I'm reluctant to exceed 130 (135 would be more suitable) for the low A because I'd need to sand nut slot to make it wider, and I don't to make such an alteration.

Circle K strings. I use a 150 low B. The Balanced 150 set is absolutely amazing.

I either use 50-135 or 45-130, more the latter nowadays as it seems abit easier to play to me.

Need a steel girder beam for a truss rod there. Some others are posting gauges not too far from that though.

The .200 set (minus the .170) would be an awesome octave E set.

This set would kick ass if you went to .085 .065 .050 - your treble side gets kinda tight. It would still give you tighter trebles than bass on tension.

. . . my $.02
