One person has told me to go with Labellas and another said go with DR low riders. Also i im not sure which tuning to use, CGCFA# or GCGCF. Please help, i dont want to damage it at all so please help with any advise.

Well weird tunings aside if you're looking to use more normal normal guage sets I'd buy a very light guage 5 string set that used for BEADG tunings then use the CGCFA# setting you mentioned. However, lose that A#. I'm not sure why you'd pick that when you could just tune CGCFG, or CFCFG.

The GCGCF tuning's low notes are too strange.

You're probably better off buying individual strings at set guages to work for the whichever set you buy. This way you can have a fairly balanced set for the unique tuning you choose to play in.

Also after giving this some more thought, I find the tapered B's on the sets I get work great (Sadowsky, Ken Smith, La Bella ect). I've found both types of B's can work good.

Thank you for the advise first off.I use that tuning so that the rest of the neck is tuned in 4ths, so patterns dont have to change. I think ill give Labellas a try. I dont understand using the high G though. The CGCFA# tuning is harmonically correct for the purpose but i im just worried more a about the tension on the neck. I had different warwicks in the past and there were all built like tanks. I normally use CGCF on my 4 string P-bass using 130 gauge low C. So what size/model gauge of lebellas is best. Thank you again for the advise.

I also normally use DR Lo-riders or blue steels but those go dead too quick.

I would donwload the tension chart from the D'Addario site and choose strings gauges that get me in the ball park of whatever gauge you commonly use. Then go to Just Strings and order singles. There are many brands to choose from. While not all strings MFGs will have the same tension for the same gauge, you should be in the right ball park as far as neck tension and string to string balance.
