Help with D'Addario Halfrounds griping the fingers

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought some D'Addario Halfrounds and like the sound on my L-2000 but they grip the fingers and make it more difficult to slide and move about for some reason. Fingers just seem to hang up. Even more than round wounds. Does anyone know if this is normal or if it will get better over time? It's very distracting. Would fastfret etc help or would any improvement just be in my head?

Thanks for any suggestions!

using these types of strings causes more finger to string contact, so some people find it quite noticeable. personally, i have found ti flats to work better for me because of this than other hybrid type flats and flats. fast fret should help you through the transition.

Worse string i have ever used...the grinding process grabs your fingers and they sound like poo...sorry IMO.

Thanks for the info.

The odd thing is that they grab more than flats. They were like sliding on glass compared to these.

BTW: Does anyone know why there is a black dot on the envelope marker for this post?

Thanks

The black dot on the envelope means you posted in this thread.

As far as the strings go, I like Fast Fret

The old Dean Markley groundwounds did the exact same thing. They sounded superb but the fell was so irritating, I have never bought 1/2 rounds again. Much worse than either rounds or full flats.

I had a set of these on my Fretless and I didn't care for them at all. They felt dirty and uncomfortable. They didn't sound that great either. If only TI Jazz Flats weren't 50$.

A good option that I've really liked are the GHS Compressed Rounds -- they are compressed rather than ground. Have a nice smooth feel.
