help with DGCF tuning!

Sign in to disble this ad
both of the guitars in my band and myself tune each string down a whole step to DGCF tuning to help the vocals and it presents for a darker and slightly heavier vibe for the songs we play. I notcied that when tuned down the strings lose a lot of tension and I get a lot of string noise when playing on the D(normally E) string. What gauge strings can I get to help this or should I even do that and what else can I do to help my tone because I am stuck playing in this tuning and I need to make sure I can make it sound as good as possible.

thanks.

Well the fatter the better. something like 55 - 110. also pluck near the bridge so the string movement is reduced

I use Ernie Ball Power Slinky's on my Stingray. They are awesome, I can go down to B and the string is still nice and tight. I use DADG, BEAD and EADG most of the time. They are 55-110
