Exclamation HELP! Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys just won't work on my SX [Essex] Jazz! Help!

Ok I got a problem with my Essex.

I used Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys on mine and the 105 bottom string just rattles like mad when fretted on the first fret! It barely bends in!

I think the problem can be solved with light guages but come on! isn't 105 the medium guage in the bass world? Am I doomed to just be forced to use light strings?! I want to tune in Drop C at times!

I already sent it to a tech a long time ago, don't think ill spend 50 bucks to see him do like only 15 mins of tinkering again.

Excuse the overdramatic post and yes, I am still a beginner.

also, I wanted to use Rotosound Steve Harris to achieve his bright yet bassy sound in my Jazz but the guage is bigger then my current Hybrid Slinkys!
and I'm still facing lots of confusion too buying strings. Stainless Steel, Nickel, Flatwound, Guages etcetc.

Should I just get a 45.65.80.100 for my Jazz which is only -5 of my current guage. (I'm thinking of getting Dunlops, Nickel or Stainless Steel? I find my tone to be a bit muddy and boring.)

Last of all, does this problem occur to all basses? It makes me wonder how 5 string first frets handles a .130 or the popularity of thicker strings like the Ernie Ball Power Slinkys.

HALP! Thanks.

You probably need to adjust the neck.See if the neck has excessive bow, then adjust the truss rod to get the proper relief.

Is the string sitting in the properly? too high?

If yes, proceed to setup area. You shouldn't pay someone $50 to setup your bass. I have been down that road and the last time I undid all of what he did in 15 minutes. The setup area has lots of good information.
