Help finding tapered low E!

Sign in to disble this ad
Can anyone inform me of any brand string other than fender superbass which has a tapered E so I can go through the body on my P bass. Normal E's are just to wide and don't make the bend.

Thanks

I believe the Carvin roundwound sets (made by LaBella I believe) have a tapered E. But, do not take my word for it and go to the site to see.

What P do you have? I've used the following brands on my '04 USA P and never had a problem with stringing through the body: SIT, D'addario, GHS & DR.

I've tried all types of DR's and love em but the low e wont work as a result of not being tapered.

I'd say Ken Smith or DR.

DR will make you custom tapered sets at the specific guages you request. I've purchased several for my Warwicks from Greg at Rocket Music (they have a forum here on TB and his username is RocketMusic) and they've been great. If you like the DRs, drop him a line and he'll get you hooked up.

I forgot all about SIT strings. I love their strings, but have not used their tapered sets.

+1

Will Lee personally recommended these strings to me the last time I saw him. So I was shocked to find that Music123 had them for $13.44. I bought a pack of SR2000s, put them on my bass, and was AMAZED! Really an unbelievable set of strings! Highly recommend giving it a try. It's so affordable and sounds amazing.

I'll listen to any advice Will Lee gives me. He also helped me when I was trying to buy a new bass and he helped me make the perfect decision!
