Help!!! I am embarassed but have to ask

Sign in to disble this ad
I yanked all the strings off my jazz bass without noticing on the bridge which groove/slot the go in. There are 3 little grooves for each string, how do I chose which one to line my string up in...figured better to ask then go blindly...and yes I am new at this.

Thanks
Rob

I'm pretty sure you use whichever slot puts the string most in-line with the pickups' pole pieces.

Honestly, it's not as critical as you think (if I am understanding you correctly). Like Wyrdo said, I would pick the one that allowed for the straightest possible line between the ball-end of the string and the tuning peg. Just make sure you consistently use that same groove for each string.

You can always go back do it again though if it's not right when you try to play it.

Just a heads up, cuz someone else is gonna you-what's the make and model of the bass?

Use the groove that best aligns the string with the pickup contacts if they're visible. If not, just set 'em up however pleases ya.

If you get the E on the E side, the G on the G side and the other two in correct sequence, you're not going to have problems.
