I recently picked up a used bass and I dig the strings on it. However, I have no idea what brand they are. They're rounds with a slightly darker color and bluish grey silk wrap. Does anyone have an idea as to the brand? |

I was going through inventory today while peeking at silks and I can not say I ran across these so I am not 100% sure what they are...
The color balance looks pretty accurate in the images so I do see they are a bluish silver.
Only thing I have on hand that seems close are GHS Super Steels but they look like more Silver than Bluish Silver, plus they are wound differently under the silk.
I will keep an eye out though... |

They have numerous sample sets and other misc sets that they've collected for reasons unknown to modern man - however, they indicated that they have two samples that look very similar to this. One set was made by LaBella - the other is a much older set made by Fender. That's the best we could do - hope it helps.

I'm going to dig through the LaBella rounds I have on hand and see if I can maybe find something further...
Awesome of you Don to chime in and check up on this one!!! |

Now, those strings don't feel like Quarter Rounds do they? The outer winding would have a little bit shaved off... I cant really see in your pic if they are they look like regular rounds... If they are, they could be Medium Deep Talkin' Quarter Rounds but those come with deep blue silk's... If they are really old it is possible they could have faded if the strings were ever soaked. But the silks do look in pretty good shape to have been soaked in anything... |

Oddly, I also just got a bass with nice strings I can't identify, but am probably gonna switch 'em. Thay sound really good, so will keep them, but probably going to flats.
Sorry, not much help. Good luck...

I searched for a year trying to find them & couldnt. Ibanez used to put misc strings on their basses so there was no way to really find out which they were. Someone told me they were Dean Markleys but Dean Markleys didnt have the same silk. So.....good hunting.
That cant be the originals. The last owner dont know what they are?

I guess La Bellas, or a brand made by La Bella. |

Besides the the silk, another thing that stands out to me is the general color of the strings. They are more of a grey than silver color. Does this sound familiar to anyone? |

I cant tell if your picture has a little bit of blue hue to it or it is a little bit of bluish grey in the silk color... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
