Help identifying these strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was in a music store playing a Yamaha BB414 today (sweet bass!) and was suprised at how nicely it played. I know that for me, strings make one of the biggest difference in how a bass plays, so I'm wondering what the strings that were on it were. They were roundwounds, with red silk wrap at both the tuning peg and bridge ends.

It looked a bunch of the basses they had in stock had the same ones, but the guy didn't know what they were. Anyone know what those might be?

Yamaha strings

I recently did some research on those strings. They are rotosound swing 66. You are right they are stainless steel.
gauge for the 6 string: 35-45-65-80-105-130
good luck!
I love my TRBJP!

Cool thanks. I think Yamaha must use them on their stock basses? I've seen a lot of Yamaha's recently with those same strings. They felt and sounded really nice. Round-core I'm guessing?

yes! as a matter of fact , I have been told that, Rotosound and Yamaha have a contract. Have you tried the DR's lowriders?

I think there was a discussion on here recently about yamaha and it was suggested that they make there own strings. Would be good to see them use Rotos though, they are great strings!
