After reading glowing reviews and having about a million people recommend them to me, I put La Bella nylon tapewounds on my fretless five-string. I hate them.
They sound completely dead, I get absolutely no resonance at all. I barely get a
thump. What's going on? Can I do anything to fix this? I want to keep tapewounds on this bass but with these strings it's almost unplayable.
Oh, and I also had this bass set up professionally with the La Bellas when I got them. That was about six months ago, and I think they resonated a
little better then.
