Help me find the right set of strings!

Alright, well the time for a new set of strings has come. My Rotosound Swing Bass 66's just snapped (Note to self: Never try to re-string bass at 1am when you are really tired ). Not to worry, they were a bit too bright for my liking. So, I play metal, and nothing but metal. I heard flatwound's are nice and low, which would be good for metal. I usually play medium paced songs, but I'm learning to play faster as I go along. I usually use my strings for anywhere between 8-12 months, unfortunatly my Roto's snapped after 5 My Brother's friend who has been playing for 11+ years swears by Dean Markley strings, so I've got my eye on a set of Dean Markley Flatwound's. But naturally I thought I'd see what you guys think first before buying What are the nicest (but not too pricey) flatwound's out there? What guage should I go for?

Thanks,
Josh

Good idea with the markleys.I would suggest sayin bye bye to the flatwounds...use roundwounds.
What gauge strings did u break?!Maybe use heavier?
For you. From your post,i would suggest 45-105 markleys or drs,if you like em i personally hate em.And if you tune down,go even heavier.

And if you liked the rotosound sound.www.deanmarkley.com
check out the "super round" set.
Thats markleys take on the rotos...probably better.
Only trouble is you would probably have to order.

Thanks for the reply Ang, the string i snapped was a 65 (A-string of my RS 66-LD 45-105). Tuning down was a massive problem because the strings just flopped all over the place. They were my first set of new strings so I didnt really know what I was doing when choosing what set to get I usually play anything from EADG to DADG. Dean Markley only seem to make strings up to 105, although there are a set of GHS Boomers that are 50-115. Would that even fit in the nut of my Ibanez?

Thanks

EDIT: My bad, there are a set of Markley Blue Steel's that are 50-110

Yes.indeed! And if your using gauges that heavy, most definetly go with steel strings. It would be much to easy to sound like a muddy pile of shi t using nickels"boomers".
Besides, their inferior to anything markley makes.
