Help me out...I need brightness w/solid mids

Let me explain further...I currently use DR Sunbeams on my Sterling. They're nice and meaty in the mid range with nice cushy lows, but don't have the high end brightness I'm looking for. Suggest some strings that are very bright that still have a nice meaty center? I've used Super Slinkies for the longest time, but don't like how they scoop the mids out of the tone.

I was gonna suggest Sunbeams before I opened the thread since that's exactly what they do. You might have an issue elsewhere. What kind of amp/cab are you using?

Lo-Riders.

Lots of mids, especially low mids, but much brighter IMO than Sunbeams. I currently have a set of Sunbeams on my P-bass and I love them, but I've mostly used Lo-Riders for the last 3-4 years and I think you will like their tone.

The tighter feel, compared to Sunbeams, may take some getting used to, but they aren't really that much tighter feeling than any other hex-core, stainless round that I've played. If you are really worried about the extra tightness, get a set with a lighter gauge than the Sunbeams you've got now.

Lo Riders could be good. I'm going to have to find my hex wrench to make my action lower...I like high tension for finger style, but for slap I like low tension. Unfortunately, can't have both. =/ I typically play mediums 105-45 but I might go with a light gauge for that set.

Also, the amp I was using was a Fender Rumble 150 (school amp, mine got fried in a HORRIBLE practical joke gone wrong). It's a 15" speaker which isn't very bright as it is.

You could try a heavier gauge, as well. The higher tension will give you a slightly brighter sound, esp. on that G string.
