Help me string my new MIA Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a new MIA Fender Jazz. I've used Elixirs on every bass I've ever owned. I got the sudden urge to ask you guys... what should I put on my new bass? Stick with my trusty Elixirs? Or go to something else?

Suggestions, please

You might take a look at EB Slinkys. I'm using .045-.100s on my Jazz.

Im in the same boat. New MIA Jazz, not loving the stock strings. They feel too thick as I use Slinkys on my Stingrays and my fretless jazz. I bought a set of stainles low riders 45-100 and will report back once I put them on and try them out.

I like Elixirs as I get sweaty hands & gig a lot. BUT I find D'addario EXP coateds to be a slightly better option than Elixirs-not quite as much $$$ & maybe don't last QUITE as long, but are a lil brighter & stay that way!

DR SS Lo-Rider had been on my MIA Jazz for about 15 years..... they sound awesome.... there is something going on in the low mids (once the initial new string "zing" is out of them) that make them sound very dark..... It's very hip! Unfortunately, 15 years with SS's are starting to take their toll on my frets.

That is a concern. What guage you have on? I bought 45-100's which were labelled as Med/Lite.

45-105.

Don't get me wrong.... I'm positive Rotos would have ate through them in half that time.

I'm now on the prowl for the perfect nickel rw.

Got mine a couple months back, has the S-1 switch, which sounds great in series mode, put my usual roundwounds on but still wasnt happy. So this morning I pulled out a set of Labella flats I had sitting around.... that was the ticket, they even have an awesome slap tone. must be something about jazz basses and flatwound strings because I had kind of the same deal with my other one, which has 5 year old TI flats, tried RW,s on that and wasnt impressed in the least.
