Could someone please suggest a solution. when i play some notes on my bass there isn't much of a sustain for example playing the C note on the A string. is there a solution to lengthen the sustain?

You must remember to check any bass you buy for dead spots. Play all the notes up and down the neck before you shell out the cash. Take your time at it too. I once thought I did only to find out later I hadn't done a good enough job at it.

New strings might help, too.

New strings and proper setup. Could just be the bass though, but I would start with strings and a good setup.

What bass is it? How old are the strings? Are your notes fretting out or just having no sustain when played thru amp?
