Help please with strings

Yo bassists,
I am a newby to bass playing. Just bought a Yamaha BB414 passive with j/p pups. I don't need anything for heavy metal. Just want a very warm sound that doesn't tear my fingers apart. What would you all suggest? Thanks

Half Rounds or Pressure Wounds. They're like an inbetween of rounds and flats. Or you could get flats, but they sound very different. You could also go with some nickel rounds, but I'm not too familiar with which ones are smooth and which ones aren't, as I usually use Steel strings, which are pretty harsh feeling.

I have forgotten the model number, but the lightest gauge Fender flatwound strings will give you a nice fat vintage tone for very little money. They last several times longer than roundwound strings, and if you decide that you want a more aggressive sound, you haven't spent a lot on an experiment.

Flatwounds are higher tension (in general) than roundwounds so getting a light gauge is cool.

My 2 cents . . .
