Question Help with Rotosound Trubass 88 playability and tone

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so I've finally got my shortscale Rotosound Trubass 88. Now I need advice / pointers. Can you help me please?

1) How long do you think it will take for me to adapt? I love their sound, but the strings feel a bit slippery on my fingers. Does anyone else get this impression? Does it get different with time? Do you have any tips on that?

2) A list of recordings made using Rotosound Trubass include Abbey Road, Let it Be (Beatles); Town Called Malice (The Jam); Transformer (Lou Reed). Would you know other examples? I would love to hear how they can be used by different artists.

Thank you so much!

PS: I never thought those strings would make my olympic white bass look so much better!

Roto Trubass don't feel too slippery to me, so I can't help much in adapting. Just give 'yourself a week or so to get used to the feel. What I didn't like about them was the wacky gauges -- not enough difference betwee a .65 and a .75 D. I also found that while they record well, they just didn't cut it live for me.

While we have a gathering of 88 users, I have a question about the tension. Could you guys compare the tension to the roto 77 monal flats?
