High-C string gauge Q

Hi all,
It's been a while since I switched from BEADG to EADGC on one of my basses (Yamaha RBX775).
I tried/switched between Warwick Black Labels,DR Lo-Riders and D'Addario EXL's but my point is that all these string sets had the standard .030 gauge C string. Now,frankly,I'm a little embarassed with this gauge,I mean the feeling is,well,"flimsy".Also, the C string's sound is a little too thin and twangy for my taste.
On the other hand,I'm very pleased with the Fodera Diamonds (.032 C string) I have on another bass.
Back to the Yammie,I'd like to try another (thicker) C gauge on it but the brand I'm into makes only .030 and .035 gauges.
Does anyone of you use a thicker-than-.030 C string? How do you like it?
If yes, aside of a more "solid" feel,is there a major difference in the bass' action setup? And,finally, does a .035 string withstand without breaking a C tuning?
Thanks!
Regards,
