Hello All,
I am thinking of getting a 6 string bass and I am looking for
good set of strings for it. I like the way Elixirs feel, are they
high tension? I am not sure what it is I like about them.(Feel, easy to bend with good tension.) Please help me figure this out.
Thanks
Shaun

I guess the best we can do is describe some things which others like about Elixirs. Their stiffness isnt particularly high IIRC, their feel is obviously quite smooth because of the coating. And they keep their tone a long time. Really you may be happy with quite a few other brands of smooth Nickels if your looking to try something different yet similar.

| | | I tried the Elixers a long time ago and moved on because the coating was too "slippery" for my taste, a quality that others might like. I did like their low tension, however. I now use DR's coated strings (Black Beauties), which also bend easily but don't have that slippery feel to them. They also happen to look great on my bass.

Next payday, I've fully decided to order up an ERB set of Skip's strings.

Shaun | If you prefer nickel, I'd recommend DR Sunbeams. They're my favorite non-coated nickel strings and are fairly low tension.

Shaun | The numbers denote the diameter of the B string. 125B will be lighter gauge (i.e. skinnier) and will be lighter in tension compared to the 130B. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
