| High tension for a Rickenbacker

I don't really know if this is more a string or bass question, but...
I've been thinking about trying a Rickenbacker bass, I know they're shorter scale (meaning not quite long scale)- I was wondering if their thin necks can handle high tension strings?
I usually play with relatively high tension strings, and with the shorter scale of a Rick, I would have to use even more tense strings- will this destroy/ warp the neck over time?
By high tension I mean heavy gauge Rotosounds for example.
