Higher tension nickels

Can someone point me in the right direction? I gotta buy some a new set of strings for my esp b-55 soon. I normally get D'addario Nickels and I was going to go for a set of mediums, but are there any other brands out there with more tension, specifically the low B?

I'm unfamiliar with the tension on the D'addario's. I use DR nickel Lo-Riders. They have quite a bit more tension than the DR Sunbeams. I believe they are the absolute best nickels on the market.

I probably didn't help much, but there ya go. Ya git what ya pay fer.

Its not the gauge that gives lo riders their stiffness, its the hexagonal core rather than the round core.

Try 'em, you'll love 'em.

Beleive they can be ordered in various guages, but not tapered.

What exactly is the advantage of tapered? I remember my MIM 5 string dlx came with them and thought they were interesting.

D'addario and Lo Riders are both hex core I believe. Maybe one is a little stiffer. Never really noticed that my self. D'addario makes a 0.145" diamater B if you are looking for tension. You need to buy singles at a place like Just Strings.

.145 wouldnt even fit my bass, thats huge! I think .135 is the max on my bass without heavy buying a new bridge/nut.

Have you raised the saddle on the B? This can make the string seem more firm.
