I went to my local music store to buy a set of Labella's for my new X-mas Hofner Icon..... They were out, but they told me that next week they had a few sets of Hofner strings coming in.
Has anyone tried these?

If you want to listen for the bass and strings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXsw3HRF8tA

Moreover consider the Labellas are made of stainless steel (==> thinner sound) while Hofners are nickel made (==> warmer).
Here is a famous clip with McCartney teaching a song and his bass is strung with the light gauge Labellas: not sure a dark sound, even if i think maybe Macca changes a set for each occasion, and so he has ever the typical new strings metallic sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obFcs...3A6D32&index=1

Great video, thanks. Looks like he's got the action set up really low too.
So juststrings.com has two guage options for the LaBella Hofner flats, the lighter 39-96 and the 50-100 set. I'm inclined to try the later at this point, just for that .050 G string.
