How Bad/Good Are These Strings?

Some store brands are fine, others not. These are apparently Sam Ash's, on long sale at the moment. Are they decent American-made strings?:

As always, thanks for any useful advice!

Have em on one of my basses at the moment... they are pretty lame. I'd buy a pack or two and keep em in your case for backup strings if one breaks, but I wouldn't recommend actively seeking them out to restring your basses with.

I hate roundwound strings, but I hate the stainless roundwound strings that seem to come on every bass I buy even worse because they go through frets like a plasma cutter. I was thinking that if in fact these are nickle plated they will at least be less damaging to the bass until I decide if the bass is a keeper or a seller.

These are actually down to about a dollar a set this weekend if you order right.

i bought rogue strings because i could buy individual strings in bulk, cheap (custom gauge sets) and i'm loving them. i'll agree most store brands can be crap, but the rogues (stainless steel anyways) are great to me. i had been a roto guy for a long time but had a hard time getting gauges i wanted, then moved to ghs, but i think the rogues have stayed brighter longer than the ghs. store brands, you never know till you try them, and they are usually cheap enough to take the risk.

at about a dollar a set, even if they only work for one show, they're worth it.

If the strings have been well recieved like these 'rogue' strings have, I'd try 'em to see if I felt the same about them.

If I was finding it hard to PAY for the 'good' or 'name' brand sets.... I'd buy a set of my fave string & use the Alcohol method of cleaning them- thus getting about 3x the amount of use outta them at least!
