Question How to "deaden" flats?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone know a good way to deaden a newer set of flats? I have a set of Fender flats that are about 2 months old and just replaced the top E string with a new one (old one broke). I know the ideal "best" way to deaden any string is to just play the crap out of it, but I would like the newer string to sound even w/ the older ones. Any thoughts?

Play the new one 3 times as much as the others in personal practice. And enjoy the fried chicken.

Give me your bass. I guarantee that within a couple of days they will be practically unplayable.

But on a serious note, just play them a lot. They should deaden on you pretty quickly, after all they're not suppose to be bright.
