How do Circle K's compare, tension wise?

Sign in to disble this ad
I wanting to try a set of balanced Circle K's and I'm trying to figure out what set to order.

My favorite strings are DR Sunbeams, (.45-100) I like the lower tension of the round cores. But, I actually like the B string to be a little tighter so sometimes I just get a single hex core B string.

As a point of reference, I can't stand the tight tension of D'Addario and Ernie Balls.

So now, how do I figure out which Circle K's have similar tension to the Sunbeams? Let's say I like the tension of the .100 E string on the Sunbeams best, and want to have similar tension throughout...what Circle K gauge E string should I be looking at? The .96? The .92?

I'm assuming that comparing a Sunbeam .100 to a Circle K .100, the Circle K will be a little higher tension due to the hex core, but I don't know for sure. That's why I'm asking I wish everybody would publish their tension specs!

Circle K's actually pretty flexible... I'd say try the .136 balanced set, the B is perfect for me at that tension, the rest of the strings sound great and are as flexible as Sunbeams or Hi Beams (at least under my hands).

You might want to try buying a .136 B string first and seeing how you like that too .

I was thinking the .136 too, and my Spector is 35" scale so that will tighten them up a little bit.
