How do flatwounds sound on extended range basses?
I currently have a set of DR Lo Riders on my sixer, but I've been jonesing for the sound and feel of flatwounds. The thing is that I've never used flats on anything other than a 4 string P bass, and I'd hate to lose a lot of clarity and brilliance in the upper register. I've been working on learning Wooten's version of "Isn't She Lovely" and I worry that it would sound muddy without the higher overtones of the round strings. Does anyone have a recording of an extended range bass with flats on it?
