How do you feel about flats on Warwicks?

Specificly, fretted Warwicks. Do they really lend themselves to flatwound strings? I know my 2004 Corvette 4 sounds nice and piano like with DR Hi Beams on it but I am getting to like roundwounds less and less and flats a whole lot more. I would just like to hear from anyone who use flats on their fretted Warwicks and get their impressions on the sound they get. Subjective opinions welcome!

Hey sunny, I put a set of thomastik flats (43/56/70/100) on my streamer pro-m and it has never sounded better. Ive tried a few different strings on this bass; sr2000s, boomers, rotos...The thomastiks combine with the warwicks natural "woodiness" to create a very useable, organic sound. Theres no turning back

Cool. The TI flats are so fun to play. They do bring out the woody tone and take away the ping and zing. I do like the piano sound too but the flats have got their hooks in me. The light set of Chromes are nice too on it and less tension than the higher gauge chromes. Almost TI like. They are brighter and less woody IMO. Do you ever wish you had five of the same bass just to have five different sets of strings on? Now that you have said it I may have to get another set of TI Flats again and string the Corvette with them. When I tried it before it was good, I just thought at the time the Warwick should be the steel round wound only bass. You have inspired me!

Great. I'm sure that you'll find some nice sounds. Give the flats a shot, and if your not too busy walking and poppin, give a shout back if your diggin the combination.

i'm not sure about fretted, but one of the nicest fretless-playing experiences i've had was using a warwick fretless with flats. i think they were rotosounds.

i don't really like warwick, though.

Doesn't Jimmy Earl use flats on his Warwick?

As for me, I use pressurewounds on my 'wick (SIT Silencers) so they're a compromise between round and flat but balanced more to rounds. I want to try some SIT Power Flats as well.

Nice to see people chiming in. I meant to mention that I really like a low tension string ala DR roundcore strings. I know the TI's are low tension and the light Chrome set but what other half wound or preasure wound that have low tension might I be able to throw in the ring with the true flats? Which of those might have a roundcore? I was informed on here that Daddario half wounds in a custom set of .100 .70 .55 .40 would feel nice and TI like but I really just like to buy from the local shops(I know, I am a caveman) They have a pretty good selection and it is nice to support the local guys.
