How do you know when your strings are dead?

I have prosteels and play them 3-4 times a week 3 hrs or so at gigs. Had them for 1 month and the B string sounds empty with no meat on it anymore.

Is this a symptom of a dying string?

1 month!? I wish some strings could last a gig. I have killed strings before the first set was over.

Yes, when the string is "empty" and just dull and makes the bass boring to play.

Feel underneath the strings..If you feel any fret marks definitely change. I there is no attack i.e. punch at the beginning of the tone..Change 'em... If they're slowing you down a bit..time for a change
