How do you make a 5/6 string piccolo set?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been looking on the internet for a 5/6 string piccolo set for my bass but I cannot find anything. I'm not sure if they exist or not and if they do can someone please post a link. But in the case that they don't exist how could you make that. I have found multiple four string piccolo sets and the gauges usually are 20,30,40,50 in the traditional G D A E sense. If I was going to make a 6 strings could I just put those four strings as highest four strings and then find a 60 and 70 guage string where ever I can and put those on as the top two? Would the tone be a little weird and out of place. If they were from the same company would it be alright? I need help.

If you have long scale piccolo from D'Addario, you can note the string code XLB:
http://www.daddario.com/DADProdDetai...D=3&Class=ACBA

If you're using other size strings with XLB code that will match with the piccolo set.
In this case the XLB060 and XLB070 will work(maybe XLB075 and XLB090).Try it!
(Excuse me if my english is poor.I just learn it.)
