Having trouble figuring out how to string my new XL's for my rogues bridge. This is the second time i've ever strung a bass (the first one was the stock bridge on my old squire) but this bridge is taking me for a ride .
Here are some pictures of the bridge...excuse the dust, this is my beat on bass.
this is how it sits on the bass (nevermind the cat):
Thanks guys |

The ball end of the string will end up being seen at the very back of the bridge. Hopefully this makes sense |

Your new strings may also be wider diameter than that bridge was designed for.
I've taken a dremel tool to the low E and B string holes on several bridges I've owned in the past couple years just to get them a tad wider. |

When I took off the strings the other day everyone went out fine except for the B string which also got stuck and I had to plier it off.
EDIT: Success, just got it through. Had to do some weird contortion with my body to apply my strength to get it through. Thanks for all the help guys. |

It sounds like you should do a little reading on the site as to how to setup your own bass. Once you know how to make those adjustments, you will be able to make that bass play nicely (or at least better than it does now) |

So why did you bother putting new strings on it?

Look in your origianl photo at how much lower the G-string saddle is compared to the other strings. Looks to me like that suckers always been to low, or is now WAY to low. Get an allen wrench that fits it and raise it up to where it's slightly lower than the D-string. |

. | Because if I went without a week of not playing i'd freak out, playing bass is one of those OCD things for me.
And if anyone wants it, I certainly wouldn't NOT sell it, but i'm not going out of my way to sell it (as i'd like to have a 5 string to be with my future 4 string)
And yeah, I never really noticed how low the G string thingy really was, when I got this bass it only had 4 strings on it and the G string wasn't, so it was a nice surprise learning how low this was today :/ | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
